Equipment purchased:

The GY-HD100U was purchased by Regent University School of Communication – Cinema Television as the school's first HD capable camera for primary use in creating narrative projects. Mr. Starkey is a second year cinema television student concentrating on editing and cinematography at Regent University. He also had the opportunity to be the director of photography for the spring film project which first used the HD100U at Regent.

The camera was first used by Regent on the school's funded spring film project which wrapped principal photography on March 25, 2006. "The camera team had no trouble at all in operating the GY-HD100U. The camera is clearly designed to adhere to established pro-grade camera control locations. It's incredibly user friendly," said Mr. Starkey."

He sees smooth HD aquisition in a film-like true 24 frame progressive mode as principal benefits of using the GY-HD100U. Starkey also appreciates the "safety-net of simultaneously aquiring the footage onto both HDV tape and hard drive." The GY-HD100U's smaller/lighter form factor allows for more mobile shooting. "Eventually, after the purchase of the ½-inch lens adapter, Regent will be able to use its current inventory of high quality Fujinon TV camera lenses," he added.

" The GY-HD100U was the perfect fit for Regent in terms of quality and price as the school begins its entry into HD shooting."
