With over 14 years experience as a filmmaker and founder of Zoning Media, Aravind Ragupathi, chose JVC’s GY-HD110 for his recent HD feature film, Train Wreck, a quirky comedy about dysfunctional thirty-somethings involved in a complicated love triangle – complete with sibling rivalry, personal addictions, and the custody of a cat!

“The GY-HD110 is a work horse, especially in low budget projects.  With a very limited crew and 22 days to shoot, the GY-HD110 was absolutely a delight to work with,” said Ragupathi.   Zoning Media shot more than 24 hours of footage at various locations.  According to Ragupathi, the camera held up very well when shooting in smoke and on fire trucks.

Ragupathi and his crew were extremely pleased with the versatility and user-friendliness of the GY-HD110.  When commenting on the performance of the camera during the production of Train Wreck, Ragupathi said, “The camera provides fast acquisition, which enabled us to work more on lighting and composition.  We never had to worry about the camera.”

Ragupathi, who purchased the camera in October 2006, also owns a wide-angle lens, adding to the camera’s versatility and flexibility while filming.  This film is the 25th project for Zoning Media, the not-for-profit media syndicate that produces and promotes independent cinema for aspiring filmmakers.

Train Wreck is based on a story by Janice Genaido, and is written and directed by Andy Lane (VALLEY GIRL, starring Nicholas Cage).  Train Wreck features Keith Harris, Ben Baker, and Maureen Mountcastle.
