JVC INTRODUCES WORLD's SMALLEST, LIGHTEST, AND MOST AFFORDABLE D-ILA PROJECTOR WITH TRUE S-XGA RESOLUTION

New DLA-G3010Z multimedia projector uses JVC's newly developed optical engine to offer true S-XGA resolution and high brightness of 1,300 ANSI lumens in the world's smallest, lightest design

Anaheim, CA (INFOCOMM, June 15-17, 2000) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY (Victor Company of Japan, Limited) is pleased to announce the introduction of the new DLA-G3010Z multimedia projector -- the world's smallest, lightest D-ILA projector capable of providing true S-XGA resolution.

With the new DLA-G3010Z, JVC has successfully packed a stunning, true SXGA performance into the smallest body ever. Thanks to a newly designed, innovative optical engine which uses only 1 PBS (Polarized Beam Splitter), the DLA-G3010Z weighs only 14.3 lbs. in a sleek, portable package. Using JVC's exclusive, patented D-ILA device, the projector delivers resolution as high as 1,365 x 1,024 pixels, and thus can display all the details of an S-XGA (1,280 x 1,024 pixels) image without scaling or loss of quality.

Despite its small size, the DLA-G3010Z generates 1,300 ANSI lumens, thus making it a powerful presentation tool in a brightly-lit environment.

"JVC's DLA-G3010Z stands out in a very large and crowded portable projector market, uniquely offering S-XGA performance in the world's most economical and lightweight package ever." said Masashi Nakamura, Marketing Manager of Visual Systems Division. "As technologies in general have advanced, more and more people have become aware of the value of higher resolution graphics, but they are searching for simple and easy solutions. JVC's DLA-G3010Z delivers super-high resolution, at an affordable price without sacrificing the great performance of the D-ILA technology, in particular its signature silky smooth S-XGA resolution. We believe that the superb performance of this unique D-ILA projector will change the minds of many prospective buyers struggling between so many me-too projectors which offer a lower (or inferior) performance."

The DLA-G3010Z projector uses JVC's exclusive D-ILA technology which is based on a patented LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) display device. The device packs 1.4 million pixels on to a tiny 0.9" (diagonal) chip to make the system fully compatible with SXGA resolution. The technology almost eliminates pixel gaps, and as a result, it achieves the highest fill-factor (93%) of any matrix-display device and provides a very smooth image without annoying "grid" or "screen door" effects.

The DLA-G3010Z has succeeded all the capabilities of its predecessors. JVC's proprietary Adaptive DPC (Digital Pixel Conversion) technology ensures smooth, artifact-free image reproduction regardless of the input signal resolution. The projector's variable-scanning capability has now been refined further to cover a horizontal scanning frequency ranging up to 105 kHz, making the projector ready for almost any input signal including UXGA. JVC's improved Digital Gamma Correction facilitates accurate gray scale and color reproduction for superior color performance.

And, last but not least, Color Enhancer compensates for color contours, ensuring crisper and sharper video pictures. These features, combined with the projector's compatibility with DTV formats (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i), make this product a wise investment now and in the future.

JVC has also paid a great deal of attention to "environmental" details that can be so important when making a presentation. With noise reduced to less than 38 dB, the DLA-G3010Z is whisper-quiet. A cooling exhaust hole located on the front panel prevents exhaust air from being output to the audience, and simultaneously helps reduce noise generation. Both lamp and filter can be replaced from the front so maintenance is quick and easy. Besides a logical layout, the DLA-G3010Z offers a suite of easy-to-use features, including digital keystone correction (±20 degrees), programable 16x digital zoom, freeze function, selectable color mode (film, TV, PC) and "Quick Alignment."

Powerful and fully compatible with a wide range multimedia signal sources, yet very small, light and stylish, JVC's DLA-G3010Z provides an affordable solution for users who want to have a future-ready projection system in place to meet the growing demand for SXGA resolution. The List Price of the DLA-G3010Z is $8,995 and it will be available for sale in August.
