Line of Network Video Recorders Provide AdvancedCamera Management
Solution
DALLAS, TX (September 27, 2004) – JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY introduced its line of VR-N100U network video recorders. The VR-N100U-600 and VR-N100U-1320 provide simple configuration and management of large-scale, IP-based security systems comprised of up to thousands of security cameras — both analog and digital. The first practical and cost-effective, completely digital IP network video recorder, the VR-N100U enables companies to considerably expand their surveillance systems to meet their growing needs, without requiring additional investments in network bandwidth.
Featuring a digital recorder and Web server in one package, the JVC VR-N100U combines video cameras communicating over an Ethernet IP network with digital recording and network control. Although specifically designed to work with IP network cameras, the VR-N100U can be integrated with analog cameras using JVC’s optional VN-A1U(A) network encoder, preserving customers’ investments in legacy systems.
“The VR-N100U is a networked solution that is considerably more than a recorder, it’s an advanced camera management system,” explained Steve Martin, assistant vice president Video Imaging Systems Division of JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. “Not only can high-quality images be viewed and managed with optimal bandwidth usage, but the VR-N100U is the optimal means of managing hundreds or thousands of cameras over the Internet easily and cost-effectively.”
Each VR-N100U server can manage and record up to 16 IP cameras, and multiple VR-N100Us can be easily managed over a standard 100 BaseT Ethernet network via a standard Web browser. The architecture can support thousands of cameras on a 100 BaseT Ethernet network through a single IP address and can be managed independent of any operating system.
Employing dynamic host communications protocol (DHCP), IP addresses are automatically assigned to new cameras as they are added to the security network. The ease of implementation reduces network integration time and expenses and also offers the flexibility to easily upgrade the system with additional cameras as needs dictate. The system utilizes a Write Once Read Many (WORM) storage that records unalterable video, ensuring video integrity. Live and archived video can be accessed and managed through a standard Web browser, and the VR-N100U boasts integrated and easy to use search functionality for quick visual data retrieval.
The VR-N100U stores all individual camera data locally and acts as a server, managing IP cameras on a sub-network. Systems designed with VR-N100Us eliminate a serious and potential drain on network bandwidth as only video from the requested cameras is transmitted at the network level. Each camera attached to the VR-N100U can be custom programmed with recording options based on priority, individual frame rate, individual resolution and more. Only images from priority cameras are then transmitted via the network, unless specifically requested from another video data recorder. An alarm function alerts the operator to changes in status of cameras so that nothing is missed. The VR-N100U also lets users access and manage live and archived video via a standard Web browser. The video data recorder supports all popular operating system (OS) platforms, allowing easy compatibility.
Optimized software and settings in the VR-N100U enable seamless compatibility between the VR-N100U and video cameras, notably the JVC VN-C11U and VN-C30U, as well as any conventional analog camera with the optional JVC VN-A1UA network encoder. The VR-N100U eliminates the need for coaxial cable. Connection between the camera (or encoder), VR-N100U and network is via standard CAT5, CAT5R or CAT6 twisted-pair cable.
The VR-N100U-600 provides 600 GB of storage while the VR-N100U-1320 has the capacity to store up to 1.3 Terabytes. The unit is expandable to 30 terabytes of storage. A 120 GB drive is also provided for emergency back up. Availability information, technical specifications and high-resolution photos are available on the JVC Web site at: http://pro.jvc.com
