JVC INTRODUCES THE REVOLUTIONARY SR-MV30U ONE-OF-A-KIND DVD DUBBING SYSTEM

Unique Dual-Deck Recorder/Player Lets Users Copy S-VHS/VHS Tapes to
Recordable DVDs with a Push of a Button

ATLANTA, GA (June 9, 2004) – JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY is pleased to announce the launch of the SR-MV30U multi-format DVD recorder. The simple to use, fully integrated product features the unique combination of a S-VHS/VHS source deck on one side and a DVD-R/RW disk recorder on the other, enabling customers to simply and inexpensively convert their existing tape libraries into DVDs, for distribution or archive purposes.

The SR-MV30U is an outstanding transitional product for people looking to convert their video libraries from analog to digital media; and since it's from JVC, affordability and high quality are assured,” said Edgar Shane, product manager for JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. “JVC’s dual-deck recorder/player is a very straightforward and easy to use; and requires no special wiring or additional cables. Just take it out of the box, insert your media and press one button.”

Combining S-VHS/VHS and DVD recording and playback in a single unit eliminates the need for multiple components and the complexity of an external wiring system. When converting tapes to DVD or DVD recordings to tape, a single push of a button starts the process. The SR-MV30U can also record video off the air onto tape, DVD or both simultaneously. Dual tuners in the SR-MV30U even allow it to record separate programs simultaneously. The unit can also record from video, Y/C or IEEE-1394 inputs. The SR-MV30U could be used, for example, to simultaneously make a VHS tape and a DVD recording from the output of a digital camcorder plugged into the DV (IEEE-1394) input.

The SR-MV30U supports multiple bit rates and can record up to eight hours on a single DVD disk. When not recording content, the versatile SR-MV30U is also a high-quality video player, enabling users to simultaneously playback separate DVD and tape programs. Progressive Scan Output in the SR-MV30U enables high-quality DVD playback and built-in TBC and Frame Synchronizer improves the quality in VHS and S-VHS tape playback.

JVC’s SR-MV30U directly addresses the market need for transitional products that provide the interface from analog to digital media. Customers with large video libraries are often looking for ways to save on storage space. By transferring their libraries to DVD with the SR-MV30U, they can gain significant space while preserving the original quality of their recordings.

In boutique and mid-level production houses, the SR-MV30U is ideal to replace single-use VHS machines in a dubbing rack. A production facility can stack multiple recorders in a rack and set up an assembly line to cost-effectively execute multiple format dubs, allowing them to double their output capabilities with a single machine.

The SR-MV30U is also an extremely viable product for the rental market. Rental stores can offer them to customers for the purpose of transferring their camcorder videos to DVD, or even offer the service to customers and charge a nominal fee for the conversion. To respect the rights of copyright holders, JVC has designed the SR-MV30U so that it cannot make copies of protected material (pre-recorded movies, etc.)

Schools, houses of worship and other organizations that record live proceedings will also discover the affordable SR-MV30U’s appeal in delivering both VHS tapes and DVDs.

The SR-MV30U dual deck recorder is presently available at a suggested list price of $895.
