JVC AND FOCUS TEAM UP TO PROVIDE HARD DISK STORAGE FOR REVOLUTIONARY JY-HD10U HD CAMERADockable Hard Disk Drive to Offer More Than Four Hours of Recording Time
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 19, 2004) – JVCPROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today announced that FOCUS Enhancements, Inc. has joined the growing list of companies creating products that support JVC’s revolutionary JY-HD10U handheld high definition (HD) camera, and the JVC mission of delivering “HD to the Masses.” Extending their co-development efforts into the realm of affordable HD, at NAB FOCUS Enhancements and JVC will unveil a prototype of its latest FireStore Hard Disk Drive (HDD) recorder with the capability to record native HD MPEG-2.
The new FireStore model uses the same scalable platform as the DR-DV5000 HDD, introduced at NAB 2003 with the JVC GY-DV5000 camcorder. The DR-HD prototype is designed to achieve roughly four-and-a-half hours of uninterrupted record time of HD content. Users will be able to directly record to disk in the native non-linear editing (NLE) file format of their choice, with no time wasted spooling content prior to editing.
All of the great features that users have come to depend on such as loop recording, time lapse, data display, time code, time remaining and more area also available in this product.
“A big advantage of our FireStore platform is its scalability and specifically the ability to easily add new file formats,” said Michael Conway, senior vice president of marketing for FOCUS Enhancements. “Since we started shipping the FireStore DR-DV5000 for JVC, we have added DV-file support for Pinnacle AVI Type 1/2, 24p QuickTime, and MXF. The HDV format is the next logical direction for a FireStore family.”
