JVC’S AFFORDABLE HD MISSION GETS TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM NEW PINNACLE PRACTICAL HD PRODUCTS

Liquid and CinéWave Extend Editing Support for High Definition Video Shot with the JY-HD10U

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 19, 2004) – JVCPROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today announced that Mountain View, CA-based Pinnacle Systems is among the growing list of companies creating products that support JVC’s revolutionary JY-HD10U handheld HD camera, and the JVC mission of delivering affordable HD products to the market. Pinnacle Systems will announce new HD support for their Liquid editing software line, which includes capability for users who shoot with the JY-HD10 to edit native MPEG2 signals without converting them into another format. Pinnacle will also demonstrate a workflow for its CinéWave solution with JVC’s high definition video (HDV) format in the JVC booth at NAB.

Boasting a strong heritage of creating native-MPEG editing products, Pinnacle’s Liquid line of software gives users the ability to edit HD content with no picture quality loss, and no valuable time spent up- and down-converting content. Pinnacle Liquid line of software will provide an affordable entry to HD editing that makes unique use of off-the-shelf PC hardware to deliver excellent quality with flexible operating modes. Users get the best of all HD worlds: they can select to work with low bandwidth HDV, high-quality ompressed Pinnacle HD Elite or the fuller quality of uncompressed HD — all on a standard workstation .

CinéWave 4.6, Pinnacle’s newest version of its premium editing and effects software and hardware for the Apple Power Mac, offers control of uncompressed HD images shot with the JY-HD10U and can downconvert to uncompressed SD with simultaneous live SD and HD outputs, giving users maximum flexibility and versatility. The software can process up to seven uncompressed SD streams in real-time and supports mixed formats and sources within the same timeline without rendering.

“Pinnacle Liquid products take unique advantage of the remarkable computing power hidden inside today’s off-the-shelf computers to offer an innovative, affordable entry to real-time multi-stream HD editing and effects,” said Jim Guerard, Pinnacle vice president and general manager for Advanced Editing. “When combined with high-quality, budget conscious HDV cameras like those from JVC, Liquid customers have a seamless HDV-native workflow that ensures great-looking video and the most sophisticated creative toolset.”
