ABC PUTS JVC'S PROHD TO USE IN A VARIETY OF DEMANDING APPLICATIONS
Integrating flawlessly in mixed High Definition news and production environments
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 24, 2006) - On November 3, 2005, television history was made as ABC's Good Morning America became the first regularly scheduled network news program broadcast in high definition. From the opening exterior shot of GMA's Times Square headquarters, JVC's "HD100" is an integral part of history making daily live HD broadcasts, capturing dramatic HD images intercut with HD studio programming.
"ABC has purchased a number of JVC HD100U cameras for use in support of ABC's Good Morning America production in HDTV and for other various ABC News productions." said Preston Davis, President Television Operations & Engineering ABC Television Network. "We have been pleased with the performance so far and look forward to their use in the future."
The GY-HD100 is used every morning for the opening shot of Good Morning America from ABC's Times Square studio in New York. In addition to the GY-HD100's used at Good Morning America headquarters in New York, ABC is utilizing cameras for ABC News productions for inter-cutting material shot on high end HD cameras with excellent results. ABC's London news bureau now has three HD100's implemented with AVID Express non-linear editors.
"As a leader in progressive High Definition technology, it is gratifying to hear ABC is pleased with ProHD's performance in various ABC News applications," said Bob Mueller, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, JVC Professional Products Company.
"Market-leading ProHD owners tell us JVC's expanded ProHD vision builds High Definition creative opportunity in Digital Cinematography, Broadcast and Studio Production. ProHD's dual media delivers unsurpassed workflow efficiency for HD news, while simultaneously solving affordable archive challenges," said Craig Yanagi, National Marketing Manager, Creation Products, JVC Professional Products Company.
