Vandal-and Weather-Resistant PTZ Camera Features 36x Zoom Lens

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 24, 2007) – JVC Professional Products Company expands its V.Networks lineup with the introduction of its new outdoor, IP66 rated vandal-proof IP surveillance camera, the VN-V686WPU. The VN-V686WPU features a 36x optical zoom lens with a direct drive mechanism that provides fast and accurate PTZ functionality. The VN-V686WPU optical zoom capability is complemented by an image stabilizer for clear visibility even with tight shots.

The VN-V686WPU high-resolution camera features ¼-inch CCDs with 380,000 effective pixels and full motion dual stream JPEG and MPEG4. With true day and night operation, the camera includes an IR cut-off filter removal function and is enclosed in an IP66 vandal and weather proof housing with built-in fan and heater.

As surveillance market requirements become increasingly more demanding, the need for powerful, multi-function IP cameras is essential in providing organizations with quicker detection and higher resolution image capture. JVC products exceed these market requirements and JVC continues to expand and improve our IP surveillance product line to meet these growing demands of the market,” said Steve Martin, assistant vice president, security division, JVC Professional Products Company.

The VN-V686WPU’s motion detection and silent direct drive motor provides fast and accurate pan/tilt motion with auto tracking and image stabilizer. The camera’s high quality 36x optical zoom lens provides clear details and is controlled remotely via a network interface, with up to 100 camera presets. The presets can be activated by the auto-patrol feature, or by an alarm or motion trigger.

With 360-degree endless rotation capability, the VN-V686WPU quickly delivers images from any direction up to 30 fps (640 x 480) and the active gamma function provides wide-dynamic range.

Additional features include dual API support for JVC protocol and Verint VSIP, AC24V power, standard 10/100BaseT interface for connection to a LAN, WAN or to the Internet. The VN-V686WPU may be combined with JVC's VR-N900U or VR-N1600U network video recorders to provide an all-JVC digital IP security solution for small to enterprise level security systems.

The VN-V686WPU will be available in the first quarter of 2008. High-resolution photos and color brochures are available on the JVC Web site at http://pro.jvc.com/newsroom.
