KABC-TV IN LOS ANGELES TAPS JVC GY-HD250U PRO HD CAMERAS FOR LIVE REMOTE BROADCASTS
Las Vegas, NV (April 16, 2007), – KABC-TV, the ABC owned station in Los Angeles, CA has purchased JVC's GY-HD250U ProHD cameras. The JVC GY-HD250s will enable KABC-TV to broadcast live HD remotes without the need for an expensive standalone HDTV encoder on each ENG van. The GY-HD250 is the only broadcast camera that has a built in HD MPEG-2 encoder allowing native 1280x720 60p microwave ready transmission right out of the camera.
"We're delighted the first and only broadcaster in L.A. that provides fulltime HD local news has chosen our GY-HD250 for special projects and live HD remotes," said Lawrence Librach, Vice President, Digital Video Division, JVC Professional Products Company.
On February 4, 2006, KABC-TV upgraded its newscast to HD. KABC-TV was the first station in the Los Angeles market to produce daily newscasts using HD studio cameras, HD weather cameras and an HD capable helicopter. The station produces local programs such as Eye on L.A., Vista L.A. and Eyewitness Newsmakers.
" KABC-TV's utilization of JVC's GY-HD250 follows the recent purchase and integration of the GY-HD250 by WXYZ-TV in Detroit, MI, WLS-TV in Chicago, IL and WJW-TV in Cleveland, OH.
