HORROR/THRILLER FILM HAVOC SHOT IN HD WITH JVC GY-HD110U
Director, Robert Lynn Pushes Camera to New Limits in His Latest
Handheld Style Feature

Wayne, NJ (January 16, 2007) -- Filmmaker, Robert Lynn previews new film, Havoc, at HD HOUSE during The Sundance Film Festival, Saturday, January 20th at 6:00 p.m., at 545C Main Street.   Shot with the GY-HD110U ProHD camera, Havoc is a horror/thriller about a team of paintball players who stop at an abandoned prison and encounter a paranoid schizophrenic war veteran who mistakes them for a team of assassins.

“The technology in the GY-HD110U amazes me.  I put it through some really rough extremes and it performed flawlessly,” said Lynn.  “The HD images are truly unbelievable.  The ability to change lenses is really a great feature, not to mention the focus assist.  It’s terrible when you get the exact scene you want and in the editing process you find it’s soft.  With focus assist, I don’t have to worry about this.”

Shot at the old Tennessee State Prison, Lynn put the GY-HD110U to the test during rehearsals and the shoot.  The camera endured excessive dust stirred up during the shoot, harsh humidity, constant running up and down staircases and direct hits from paintball guns. “I wouldn’t have been able to shoot for the entire one take if I didn’t have JVC’s lightweight and compact camera,” Lynn added.

“The production of Robert Lynn’s Havoc is a representation of the latest affordable HD production tools being used by filmmakers to truly capture their creativity,” states Craig Yanagi, National Marketing Manager – Creation Products, JVC Professional.  “Applied cutting-edge technologies include direct recording of HDV720 24p in .mov file structure from the GY-HD110U ProHD camcorder to the DR-HD100 ProHD hard disc recorder, and the ability to directly “drag and drop” the content into the Apple Final Cut Pro NLE timeline.  This capability allows independent producers to simplify the editing and posting of their work exponentially.”

Havoc, similar to Lynn’s last film Adrenaline, was also shot in one continuous take.  “In this film I wanted to continue the long shot style and implement the cut into it," said Lynn.  "What we’ve ended up with is a film that feels cut completely although the actual cuts are limited compared to traditional films.  It’s amazing the level of creativity you can have with the new technology available.”

Lynn used JVC's DR-HD100 hard disk drive to capture his HDV 720p images.  According to Lynn, “The hard drive saved so much time.  It worked flawlessly.  We took the files right into Final Cut Pro and began the process of editing.  No capture log, just one step.”

“Obviously, I’m a big fan of JVC’s line of products as well as the great support I receive from JVC," added Lynn.  "I’m gearing up for my next film and will use the new GY-HD200U.  This will be my third film utilizing JVC's ProHD cameras and I anticipate many more in the future.”

Havoc was picked up for distribution by Romar Entertainment and will release the 90-minute cut version in theaters by end of Summer 2007.  The uncut 105-minute one take version of the film will be available on the DVD.  Lynn’s film, Adrenaline, will be released in the Spring 2007.
