WATERMAN BROADCASTING FURTHERS COMMITMENT
TO JVC PROHD WITH PURCHASE OF GY-HD250 CAMERAS
Wayne,
NJ (July 12, 2007) —
Waterman Broadcasting has purchased JVC’s GY-HD250 ProHD cameras for the station’s ABC affiliate,
WZVN-TV in Fort Myers, Florida.
The GY-HD250s will be used as the station’s primary studio cameras. This
purchase follows their December 2006 purchase of several JVC’s 100 Series
cameras.
“The GY-HD250 is the perfect choice for our ABC affiliate
because of the camera’s native 720p format and the HD-SDI direct output,” said
Dan Billings, Director of Engineering and Technology, Waterman
Broadcasting. “We also chose JVC because
the GY-HD250 integrates well with our Telemetric robotics. The performance of
the camera is truly amazing, especially at its price.”
“Additional purchases of our ProHD line by stations such as
Waterman Broadcasting is a true testament to our technology,” said Lawrence
Librach, Vice President, Digital Video Division, JVC Professional Products
Company. “Because our products easily
integrate with existing systems, station managers are realizing they can
quickly and affordably upgrade from SD to HD.”
WZVN-TV will control the GY-HD250s through the station’s
Telemetrics robotics. “Our studio has three floor televators, which can pan and
tilt and also raise and lower. The CCU
functions for the cameras are also done by the Telemetrics system. We have two additional GY-HD250s that we can
lower from the ceiling using custom built Telemetrics hardware,” said Billings. “The GY-HD250s
are perfect for our setup because they are compact and will allow us to move
forward into HD with the ideal format for ABC.”
Waterman Broadcasting utilizes their current ProHD cameras
in the field to capture footage in both HD and SD. Billings
added that the cameras are frequently used on the water or during hurricanes
because they are so lightweight and durable, and perform well in extreme
weather conditions.
Waterman Broadcasting Corporation owns WBBH-TV (NBC) in Fort Myers, Florida,
WVIR-TV (NBC) in Charlottesville, Virginia and has a LMA with WZVN-TV (ABC) in Fort Myers, FL,
owned by Montclair Communications, Inc.
