JVC RECEIVES HONOR FROM
FROST & SULLIVAN JVC’s VN-V686WPBU IP
network camera wins
2009 Video Surveillance
Product Innovation of the Year Award
Wayne, NJ
(March 31, 2009) – JVC’s
V.Networks line adds yet another award to its long list of honors,
this time as the recipient of the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Video
Surveillance Product Innovation of the Year Award for its
VN-V686WPBU IP network camera. Recognized for its revolutionary
features including Power over Ethernet (PoE), 36x optical zoom,
rugged IP66 standard dust and weatherproof housing, MPEG-4/Motion
JPEG dual stream and silent direct
drive motor, the VN-V686WPBU is the first
Pan/Tilt/Zoom of its kind.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product
Innovation of the Year is presented each year to the manufacturer
that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies
within the industry. In developing the VN-V686WPBU, JVC combined the
three core competencies of its V.Networks
line—imaging, networking and mechanism design—with the IEEE
802.3af industry standard of Power over Ethernet for reliable
connection to IEEE 3af standard power sources. The result is a
camera that encompasses the most cutting-edge IP camera
technologies, and is ideal for
surveillance applications in retail,
education, medical and government facilities.
“The JVC engineers have demonstrated their
dedication to continuous improvement with their V.Networks line,”
said Dilip Sarangan, Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Physical
Security. “One of the challenges in powering PTZ cameras with PoE
is power consumption. With its IEEE 802.3af PoE capability, the
VN-V686WPBU has overcome this problem, easily giving JVC an 18 month
advantage over the competition.”
“JVC’s V.Networks strategy is to be the
first to market with the right products to meet customer demands,”
said Geoff Anderson, national marketing manager for Physical Security
Products, JVC Professional Products Group. “Even before taking
home the Security Industry Association (SIA) Award New Product
Showcase Award in 2008 for the VN-V686WPU (the non-PoE version of
this camera), JVC’s world class team was already at work on the
VN-V686WPBU. By extending PoE capability to outdoor high performance
PTZ cameras, JVC continues to build on its reputation for delivering
innovation, value and quality.”
The list price for the
VN-V686WPBU is $3,549. High-resolution
