KYTX IN TYLER, TX WILL SWITCH OVER TO HD USING
JVC GY-HD250 PRO HD CAMERAS

Las Vegas, NV (April 20, 2009) — KYTX, CBS19, based in Tyler, Texas, has completely upgraded its news and production operations using JVC’s GY-HD250 ProHD cameras, both as the station’s primary studio cameras, equipped with JVC’s KA-HD250 studio adaptors, and for electronic news gathering in the field with the DR-HD100 hard disk recorder. The London Broadcasting Company owned station serves Tyler, Nacogdoches, Longview, and Lufkin, Texas, and produces 28 hours of weekly news programming, including a daily morning news show, “CBS19 This Morning”, and a nightly program, “KYTX CBS 19 Ten @ 10.”

We initially purchased two GY-HD250s for use in the field a year ago and our shooters have been very pleased with the results,” said Moe Strout, Director of Engineering for London Broadcasting Company, Inc. “Since then, we’ve added twelve more 250s to our lineup. Three are in use in the studio, two in Production and the rest are used for ENG. The cameras were perfectly suited to our needs and our budget. We are very happy with our decision to go with JVC ProHD.”

One of the features that led KYTX to choose JVC’s GY-HD250 was the Pool Feed Input capability. The station edits using Adobe Premier with Video Technics Servers, and the GY-HD250s seamlessly integrated into KYTX’s workflow as the station was already file based.

KYTX has been shooting in HD, in Studio, and down converting for air since using their ProHD cameras. And, despite the extension of the DTV transition deadline to June 12, 2009, the station ceased its analog signal on February 17th. KYTX will make the switch to air in HD on April 23, 2009.
