FOX8 WGHP PURCHASES
16 JVC GY-HM700
PROHD CAMCORDERS FOR
LOCAL NEWS
WAYNE,
NJ (March 23, 2010)
— JVC Professional Products, a division of JVC U.S.A., today announced
that WGHP-TV in High Point, N.C., which serves the Greensboro/High
Point/Winston-Salem market (DMA #46), purchased 16 GY-HM700ULL LoLux cameras.
Two of the ENG cameras are outfitted with Canon 20x zoom lenses, while 14 are
paired with Canon 14x zoom lenses. Owned and operated by Local TV LLC, the FOX
affiliate began broadcasting its local FOX8 News in widescreen last September,
and is expected to upgrade to a full HD newscast.
With its three 1/3-inch
progressive scan CCDs, the shoulder-mount GY-HM700 supports all major HD signal
formats, including 1080p, 720p, and 1080i. JVC’s onboard MPEG-2 encoder
provides highly efficient compression at bit rates up to 35Mbps. The
lightweight camcorder records to inexpensive, non-proprietary SDHC memory cards
in the QuickTime (.MOV) file format, which eliminates the need to ingest or
encode footage when used with Apple Final Cut Pro. It also records in the
.XDCAM EX (.MP4) format for compatibility with other NLE systems.
