WMAR BALTIMORE UPGRADES STUDIO
WITH JVC GY-HM790 PROHD CAMERAS

WAYNE, NJ (December 7, 2010) – JVC Professional Products Company today announced that WMAR, the ABC affiliate in Baltimore, Md. (DMA #27), has purchased six JVC GY-HM790 ProHD cameras, which replaced Sony BVP-700 cameras in its studio for production of its local newscasts. Part of the Scripps TV Station Group, WMAR went live with its new cameras on Oct. 3.

With an innovative modular design, studio adapter sled, and a full complement of studio accessories, the GY-HM790 supports multicore or fiber-based production. The versatile camera features three 1/3-inch CCDs, which allow a lighter, more compact form factor for better ENG maneuverability in the field and more flexibility with robotic camera control systems in the studio. It produces 1280x720 or 1920x1080 images and can record in 720p, 1080i, and even SD (480i) for operations that have not yet made the move to HD. A dual card slot design records to low-cost, non-proprietary SDHC solid-state media cards in ready-to-edit file formats for Apple Final Cut Pro (.MOV) and other major NLE systems (.MP4).
