January 13, 1988 JVC DUPLICATORS SELECTED IN WORLD'S FIRST S-VHS DUPLICATION FACILITY ORLANDO, FL...Video Marketing Services has chosen JVC Professional Products Company as the exclusive supplier of S-VHS tape duplicators for its new high-volume S-VHS tape duplication facility. It is the first fully equipped S-VHS duplication facility yet to be announced, and is capable of producing more than 100,000 video tapes per month. Video Marketing Services is a major international video facility, providing high-quality duplication service to independent production companies as well as some of the nation's top corporations. The company selected JVC's Model BR-S710U duplicators, as well as related equipment such as Y/C adapters and distribution amplifiers. Video Marketing Services made the commitment to S-VHS because "the format is so vastly superior to VHS, but remains compatible with the earlier format, making it an immensely marketable product," according to Mike Capko, president of Video Marketing Services. Adds Capko: "S-VHS is to video what the compact disc is to audio. The S-VHS picture, when used to its maximum potential, exceeds live network television broadcasts." The company made the commitment to JVC products and technology because, according to Capko: "We believe that JVC has demonstrated conclusively with their commitment to this format that they are on the leading edge of video technology." JVC Professional Products Company has announced a full line of S- VHS products, including cameras, recorders, editors, and duplicators. THE TREND TO QUALITY The momentum is mounting toward S-VHS. Andrew Thompson, Inc., an independent producer and video distributor, whose programs include rare collectors item footage, such as "Marty Robbins...His Legacy", and "Two Men in Dallas", a documentary containing rare footage of John F. Kennedy's assassination, has chosen S-VHS in order to create the best picture possible from their masters. Several other products are available in S-VHS format, including Caravatt Communications' "Play your Best Golf," and Play Your Best Tennis;" and World Travel Video's eight travelogues. Capko sees enthusiasm for S-VHS building over the next few months, with many more titles available, and "videophile" consumers asking for S-VHS tapes at their local video stores within six months to one year.
