Wayne, NJ (December 16, 1999) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY is leveraging its growing strength and position in the projection marketplace with an expansion of its D-ILA (Direct-Drive Image Light Amplifier) product line. JVC is introducing five new portable D-ILA projectors: the ultra bright DLA-G20, the efficient and versatile DLA-G15, the rear throw DLA-C15, the adjustable-lens DLA-M15 and the economically-priced DLA-G11. JVC's unprecedented and innovative D-ILA technology has revolutionized the small projector market, offering brightness, resolution, and picture quality previously available in only high-end theatrical or CRT based projectors.
The announcement coincides with JVC's formation of its new Visual Systems Division that will more than double its present sales force and expand opportunities in the display products market.
"JVC is very excited about our track record for bringing superior projection technology to the professional marketplace, and specifically the worldwide acclaim for our D-ILA display technology," remarked Jim Turner, Marketing Manager of JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. "These five new, versatile portable D-ILA projectors underscore JVC's unique capability to miniaturize and leverage ILA technology. It also proves our commitment to building the JVC brand and marketshare in the evolving high-definition projection marketplace."
NEW DLA-G20 OFFERS 2,000 ANSI LUMEN BRIGHTNESS
JVC's newest projector, the flagship DLA-G20, offers 2,000 ANSI
lumen brightness, "true" S-XGA resolution (1365 x 1024
pixels) and a 350:1 contrast ratio for picture-perfect reproductions.
This superb performance effectively takes data projection to
the next level of performance, and is perfect for delivering
high-resolution computer graphics, CAD images, and high-definition
motion-picture images in a large-screen format.
JVC's DLA-G20 achieves ultra high brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens by using a high-power Xenon lamp in combination with a high-density reflective LCD with a homeotropic structure in which the LCD elements are aligned vertically. The Xenon lamp also delivers superb color reproduction and clarity, ensuring that projected images can be viewed comfortably even under fluorescent light. Newly engineered features such as Adaptive DPC (Digital Pixel Conversion), Digital Gamma Correction and Resizing Function help the DLA-G20 deliver sharp, detailed, color-accurate images.
DLA-G15 OFFERS SUPERB BRIGHTNESS AND RESOLUTION
The DLA-G15 offers 50% more brightness than JVC's legendary DLA-G10,
with 1,500 ANSI lumens. It delivers super high resolution with
1,365 x 1,024 pixels, and can give full coverage of S-XGA (1,280
x 1,024 pixels) graphics as well as XGA, S-VGA, and VGA. Engineered
to be efficient, the DLA-G15 is a superb data projector, displaying
16:9 High Definition Television (HDTV) signals in either the
720P or the 1080i formats with incredible clarity and resolution.
Like it's predecessor, the DLA-G10, it delivers extraordinary
brightness and lightness, rivaling the best in high-end theatrical
projectors.
REAR-THROW DLA-C15
The DLA-C15 fits in all the places you need a rear projector.
Designed for maximum image quality, the DLA-C15 incorporates
a high-performance wide-angle 1:1 lens to provide accurate projection
images without picture distortion.
DLA-M15 HAS ADJUSTABLE LENS FOR EXTRA VERSATILITY
JVC's new DLA-M15 is a sophisticated D-ILA projector that offers
1,500 ANSI lumens of brightness and an adjustable shift lens
design that eliminates complicated alignments and makes it possible
to stack projectors for even greater brightness output. The projection
lens can be manually offset between 30% and 55% in the vertical
direction, so you can quickly obtain an optimal projection image
event when using two DLA-M15s in a stacked configuration. The
DLA-M15 is the ideal replacement for the massive 3-tube CRT projectors
that were once the only choice for anyone who needed large-screen
projection images in bright lighting conditions. In most cases,
its adjustable shift allows it to be used as a replacement to
the CRT models with minimal reconfiguration.
DLA-G11 PROJECTS "TRUE" S-XGA IMAGES
JVC's new DLA-G11 projector is capable of delivering "true"
S-XGA images with 1,000 ANSI lumen brightness with and all the
sharpness and clarity of a small-screen image. This tabletop
unit is compact and lightweight, weighing just 32.6 pounds (14.8
kg) for easy travel and set-up. With the DLA-G11, users benefit
from advanced technologies used in JVC's top-of-the-line D-ILA
projectors, including JVC's Adaptive DPC Circuitry, newly-developed
Digital Gamma Correction and Resizing Function.
HDTV DISPLAY
All JVC's D-ILA projectors are capable of displaying 16:9 High
Definition Television (HDTV) signals in either the 720P or the
1080i formats with incredible clarity and resolution. All models,
ranging from the affordable DLA-G11 through ultra bright DLA-G20
deliver picture quality which approaches the super brightness
and high resolution previously only found in larger models of
ILA® based light valve projectors.
UPGRADED TECHNOLOGY IN ALL MODELS
JVC enhanced all five new projectors with improved functionality,
including Adaptive DPC (Digital Pixel Conversion), Digital Gamma
Correction and Resizing Function for sharper, more detailed,
color-accurate images. The Adaptive DPC circuitry optimizes picture
quality regardless of the input signal resolution to ensure smooth,
clear images. Variable scanning frequency capability with horizontal
scanning frequencies ranging from 15 kHz to 82 kHz assures compatibility
with a wide range of source signals. Newly developed Digital
Gamma Correction circuitry facilitates accurate gray scale and
color reproduction. Even the intricately colored images created
by graphics workstations can be clearly reproduced and displayed
on the screen thanks to improved color tracking while "real"
black reproduction capability ensures crisp blacks for cleaner,
sharper, more detailed images. Added versatility is provided
by a Resizing Function which enables projection of "expanded"
XGA images (1,024 x 786 pixels), S-XGA images (800 x 600 pixels),
and VGA images (640 x 480 pixels), as well as fully dot-to-dot
coincident S-XGA images (1,280 x 1,024 pixels).
USER FRIENDLY DESIGN
All five models have a quick-start design that makes it possible
to start operation within 2 minutes of switching on the power.
Single lens construction eliminates the need to adjust registration,
while the power zoom and power focus functions greatly reduce
the need for projector alignment. All are conveniently compact
and lightweight, ranging from 38.06 to 32.56 pounds.
D-ILA TECHNOLOGY
The Direct-Drive Image Light Amplifier, or D-ILA device, is an
original development by JVC and an extension of the Image Light
Amplifier (ILA®) that was developed for large screen theatrical
venues.
Using a C-MOS-based reflective liquid crystal light valve upon which the image is written directly by the driving IC, JVC's D-ILA projector is able to produce images with an unparalleled combination of color, contrast, brightness, resolution and bandwidth. Each separated pixel in the D-ILA's X-Y matrix has a very thin aluminum reflective electrode. When voltage is applied to the selected pixel of the matrix, the liquid crystal modifies the transmission of light as it reaches the reflective surface (this is referred to as "birefringence"). Therefore, the net reflectivity of the D-ILA device changes. The non-reflective area of the D-ILA device is a minimal 7%, only serving to separate each pixel, eliminating the "screen door" effect that is so evident in LCD projectors. The rest of the D-ILA's electrode is reflective surface, thereby providing a high aperture ratio of more than 93%.
JVC has designed its D-ILA projectors with an eye toward the future, rolling out projectors capable of transmitting HDTV images for broadcast and industrial use. "JVC is committed to providing our customers a wide range of HDTV-capable projectors for a broad spectrum of applications. In rolling out five new designs, we've specifically extended our product line to give our customers the choice of an HDTV projector which is perfectly tailored to their current and future presentation needs," confirmed Turner.
