NEW ORLEANS, LA (INFOCOMM 1993, JAN. 14-16) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY has introduced a new VHS Hi-Fi duplicator incorporating two record/playback chassis in a single unit. The BR-7020UP provides increased savings in both the space and operating cost of producing multiple VHS copies. In a typical system, the BR-7020 uses about 33 percent less rack space than single VHS duplicators. Savings are also achieved in energy and cable costs. The two-in-one duplicator provides high performance with less power consumption (50 watts) than a single Hi-Fi VHS duplicator. This single attribute provides a two thirds power reduction and significant savings in energy. JVC's BR-7020 requires no additional video, audio or power cables and works with the same number of video and audio distribution amplifiers as a single VHS duplicating machine. In addition, it operates with half the number of cables required for all signal inputs. The BR-7020 demonstrates improved performance, reliability and durability. A hardened lower drum improves wear resistance and ensures stable tape transport for a longer operation period, which reduces downtime. A more stable tape transport is assured by the hardened guide poles and thickened capstan shaft and take-up pole next to the A/C head. The same picture-improvement "Z circuit" used in JVC PROFESSIONAL-S editing recorders is incorporated for an improved chroma S/N at low levels. Color edge noise is also reduced by use of a luminance signal comb filter. The video recording amplifier incorporates a current stabilizer circuit that supplies a constant amount of current to the Hi-Fi audio heads, further stabilizing the recording of Hi-Fi audio soundtracks. An auto head cleaner cleans the video and Hi-Fi audio heads when the tape is loaded or unloaded to prevent head clogging. A newly-developed, high-performance brushless capstan motor results in a better and much longer motor service than with the conventional brush-type motors. An optional feature of the duplicator, the automatic cassette loading capability, is offered for increased efficiency and reduced labor costs. With the SA-L50U optional auto loader, two blank cassettes can be set and two recorded cassettes can be held. When combined with a separate adapter, up to four cassettes can be set in the standby tray and up to four recorded cassettes can be held in the catcher tray. Self-recorded tapes can be automatically checked with an optional Automatic QC system. The BR-7020 also features an eight-digit ID code recording capability. Special features of the BR-7020 to simplify maintenance include a removable chassis, easy-to-adjust A/C head, and a self- diagnostic warning system with digital display. The use of two exclusively designed rotary audio heads provides a Hi-Fi frequency of 20 to 20,000 Hz, a dynamic range of more than 90dB, and minimum wow and flutter of .006 percent. When required, a separate Dolby noise reduction circuit can be incorporated in the normal stereo audio tracks. Also, audio inputs can be separate for four channels or combined for two channels of normal and two channels of Hi-Fi. JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY, based in Wayne, NJ, distributes a complete line of broadcast and professional equipment including cameras, recorders, audio and editing products.
