JVC INTRODUCES THE FIRST MULTI-CHASSIS S-VHS DUPLICATOR
Atlanta, GA (NAB 1990)...JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY introduces the BR-S777U, the world's first multiple chassis professional S-VHS duplicator. JVC developed the BR-S777U based on the advanced design of the BR-7030U (a 3-in-1, Hi-Fi VHS duplicator) introduced at NAB 1989.
The BR-S777U meets the needs and increased demand from S-VHS duplicators and software producers. The new unit incorporates S- VHS technology and includes a number of features designed from extensive market research.
The BR-S777U features three record-only tape transport chassis built into a single cabinet, allowing for substantial space savings, reduced power consumption and lower peripheral costs per recorder. Moreover, since the BR-S777U offers S-VHS SP and EP recording, as well as VHS SP recording, software companies and duplicators will not need separate machines for production of S-VHS and VHS software.
The highly regarded ID recording capability has been doubled with the inclusion of a built-in, 8-digit ID code generator. In combination with an optional external code generator, this allows recording of 16-digit codes which can include information like the unit's serial number, as well as date and time common to all units. This expanded coding capability provides more accurate tracking of each tape's dubbing data. A rear panel check out connector has also been added to the new unit for centralized monitoring of signal wave forms.
The BR-S777U also features improved remote control capabilities. Control of all operation modes, including AGC, NR, and Audio Limiter, is now possible, as well as simultaneous S-VHS, SP / S- VHS, EP / VHS record remote switching of all operating units. Using a single remote control for operations of all units, S-VHS 3-in-1 duplicators not only increase dubbing efficiency, but offer new application possibilities. (more) For example, broadcasters have to clip on-air programs for checking and filing purposes, usually requiring several copies. Since the BR-S777U can simultaneously record three tapes from a single input, clipping time is saved and the quality of the resulting videotapes is high enough for both distribution and library archives.
Other features of the BR-S777U include: Hi-Fi VHS stereo sound; a 34-pin parallel remote connector; individual tape run indicators and 5000H hour meters for each transport; Dolby-B NR for standard (Normal) audio; an audio level meter with selectable Hi-Fi/NORMAL and LEFT/RIGHT channel; three large illuminated recording and warning indicators; self-diagnostic warning systems for each unit; front panel test points with selectors for each unit; auto head cleaning; and a warning out connector.
