JVC INTRODUCES LOW-COST S-VHS EDITING RECORDER/PLAYER FOR PROFESSIONAL-LEVEL EDITING AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (NAB, April 15-18, 1996) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY continues to satisfy the market needs of all segments of the professional video world with the introduction of the new SR-S365 S-VHS Editing Recorder/Player with built-in CTL time code. The SR-S365, which is controllable via JVC's economical RM-G800 editing controller, makes professional-level video editing affordable for videographers with a limited budget, such as wedding videographers and many industrial users. "Fast and precise time-code editing has been a staple in professional video for years, but has been out of reach for many corporate and event videographers," noted JVC's product marketing manager, Jerry Cohen. "JVC meets the demand for time-code editing in this increasingly demanding segment with the SR-S365." Cohen noted that this is the first S-VHS editing recorder in this price range to offer time-code generation and editing. In addition, the SR-S365's compatibility with the RM-G800 edit controller means that even users on a tight budget can now perform professional-style insert and assemble editing functions. And since the SR-S365 provides three audio tracks (2 Hi-Fi, one linear), with audible sound during search or jog, professional frame-accurate audio editing is assured. The linear audio track can be dubbed independently of the video. Manual controls for adjustment of audio levels are included. The SR-S365 offers a durable tape drive and built-in CTL time-code for fast and precise access to any frame. JVC's exclusive CTL Time Code records absolute tape address information on the control track, and provides fast and precise access to any frame on the videotape, as opposed to conventional control track counters that lose reference when the tape is removed from the machine. CTL time code can be added onto an existing recorded tape using the Post Stripe mode, which means no special time code equipment is required when recording in the field, and that re-editing of previous footage is made much easier.

Picture quality is assured through each step in the edit process by JVC's new Color Response Improvement (CRI) circuitry. In addition, automatic digital tracking produces smooth, jitter- free tape tracking. The SR-S365 includes a front panel jog/search dial that provides fast and precise viewing. An industry-standard RS-232 port allows computer-controlled editing. "JVC's SR-S365 offers event, wedding, education and corporate videographers working within modest budgets, a professional, user- friendly editing system that can grow along with their demands," said Cohen. JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY, based in Wayne, NJ, distributes a complete line of broadcast and professional equipment including cameras, monitors, projectors, recorders and editing equipment.
