JVC UPGRADES THE KY-17 SERIES WITH TWO NEW CAMERAS

LAS VEGAS, NV (NAB 1992) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY upgraded 
its popular KY-17 camera series and introduced two new, advanced 
cameras, the KY-17FIT and KY-17B.  

     The KY-17FIT incorporates three Frame Interline Transfer (FIT) 
CCD's for increased resolution and minimal vertical smear.  The KY-17B 
features new generation Interline Transfer (IT) CCD's with a micro lens 
array for very high sensitivity and low vertical smear. 

     The micro lens array, together with advanced propriety JVC 
circuitry, provides breakthrough sensitivity of F7.0 at 2000 lux 
(equivalent to F10 for 2/3" format) and minimum illumination of 10 lux 
at F1.4 and 18 dB gain.  This is nearly twice the sensitivity previously 
available from three CCD prism cameras.  The signal to noise ratio is 60 
db. 

     Characteristic of JVC cameras, the KY-17 cameras are compatible 
with other formats. They provide composite, Y/C component as well as RGB 
outputs. The new KY-17's dock directly with JVC's BR-S411U and BR-S420CU 
S-VHS recorders, as well as Betacam and MII through a compact adapter.  
Camera set-up is microprocessor controlled, including white and black 
balance.  There are two nonvolatile white balance memories with the 
preset color temperature of 3200 K. 

     Other features of the KY-17 series include:  "zebra" pattern 
indicator for accurate video level monitoring, 2H vertical contour, 
flare and shading correction circuits, negative/positive image reversal, 
auto-iris, high-speed shutter, stereo audio, self-diagnostic circuit, 
and RS-170A sync generator.
