JVC HIGH DEFINITION UPCONVERTER BREATHES NEW LIFE INTO STANDARD DEFINITION FOOTAGE The BC-D2300?s Advanced Adaptive Motion Algorithm Provides Superior HDTV Quality from Standard Definition Sources
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 19, 2004) – JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY is showcasing the BC-D2300 , its high definition (HD) upconverter at NAB as part of its mission of delivering affordable HD products to the market. The BC-D2300 efficiently and economically converts material originally shot in standard definition (SD) format to HD picture formats for broadcast and content creation applications, opening the door for a wide range of broadcast and corporate videographers to distribute HD content. Using JVC’s original advanced motion adaptive algorithm, the BC-D2300U converts 480i SD program material to 1080/60i or 720/60p HD formats, producing smooth, high-resolution images. The unique 3-Dimensional Enhancement also enables the BC-D2300U to produce sharper, crisper HD material. Standard definition content can take on new life through conversion of 480i video signals to either the 1080i or the 720p HDTV standard. As with all video conversions, the higher the resolution of the original picture, the better the final picture quality. JVC D-9 50Mbps 4:2:2 component digital VTRs are engineered to preserve far more chroma resolution with fewer artifacts than competing formats, making the D-9/BC-D2300U combination an extraordinarily high-quality, cost effective solution for HDTV programming. “The BC-D2300U lets users capitalize on the wealth of footage that’s already been shot in SD and deliver it in the high-quality, rich image HD format,” said Tim Tokita, product manager for JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. “Along with the other HD products JVC has introduced, the upconverter is an important component of JVC’s mission of delivering ‘HD for the Masses.’ ” The BC-D2300U upconverter has three aspect-ratio conversion modes: 4:3, letter-box and squeeze. In the 4:3 output mode, edge crop function enables side edge masking. Furthermore, side panel position can be moved. In the letterbox output mode, vertical position adjustment is possible. With one component SDI input and three HD SDI outputs, the BC-D2300U effortlessly synchronizes embedded video and audio signals. Housed in a 1U-rack unit, the BC-D2300’s design accommodates versatile additional circuit boards and software for flexible installation in any studio or production environment. D2 and analog inputs are available with the optional BC-D231U plug-in board. Optional BC-D232U image control software enables color correction and variable frequency enhancement function. The JVC BC-D2300U is currently available at a suggested list price of $19,950. High-resolution photos are available on the Web at: http://pro.jvc.com.
