12/12/86 JVC INTRODUCES NEW VHS VCR

To meet the ever-expanding needs of video professionals in business, education and industry, the Professional Video Communications Division JVC COMPANY OF AMERICA has introduced the new BR-3100U VHS VCR. With many convenient features and numerous capabilities, the BR-3100U provides the kind of crisp picture quality professionals have long required.

Improved Performance Features

"With luminance signal noise reduction to cut down on snowy, grainy pictures; chrominance signal noise reduction to reduce color patches and streaking; and an extension of the white clip level to sharpen the picture, the BR-3100U achieves standards previously unattainable for the price," says Juan Martinez, Product Engineering Manager.

Other factors, such as the addition of a luminance signal comb filter for 10 percent more information, and the use of four video heads for maximum track width, make certain that the BR-3100U achieves the kind of pictures professionals have come to expect from VHS-HQ.

Automated Functions

Among the unusual assortment of automated functions that make the BR-3100U so easy to use is automatic power-up whenever a cassette is inserted into the machine; auto-play which starts playback immediately after a cassette whose safety tab has been removed is inserted; and memory-play, which allows the operator to press "play" immediately after "rew" or "ff." When the tape is finished winding, play mode takes over.

One button record (instant record) is also an attractive feature. When this button is pressed, recording starts, regardless of the mode currently engaged. Pressing the button repeatedly will add 30 minute increments to the stop time of the recording, so the VCR is even easier to use. Even with the VCR power turned off, cassettes may be ejected if AC power is still supplied.

Protection

If the pause/still mode is engaged or five minutes, the automatic release will stop it, thus protecting tape, heads and other vital components of the VCR. An automatic channel lock mechanism prevents the selected channel from accidentally being changed during recording. If it should be changed, "pause" or "stop" must be pressed first. The backspace editing function

means that when the pause mode is engaged while recording, the tape is backspaced. The recording can then be restarted, and playback shows no distortion at the edit point.

Being_Specific

The BR-3100U can record up to eight hours of programming with a JVC T-160 videotape in EP mode. Its horizontal resolution measures 240 lines with a 45 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Power consumption is 28 watts; power requirement is AC 120 V, 60 Hz. This VCR weighs under 16 lbs. and comes with infrared remote control unit, "AAA" batteries, F-type antenna cable, antenna splitter/mixer and power cord.

For any video proessional who looks for outstanding picture quality in an easy to use VHS VCR, the BR-3100U fits the bill. For more information, contact the JVC Professional Video Communications Division at 1-800-JVC-5825.
