JVC INTRODUCES NEXT-GENERATION S-VHS DOCKABLE/PORTABLE RECORDER

Wayne, NJ (January 1990)...JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY has begun shipment of the BR-S411U, an S-VHS dockable/portable recorder that embodies the latest in recording technology and a wide array of useful features. The BR-S411U is part of the PROFESSIONAL S video system, the most sophisticated and technically capable S-VHS equipment ever made.

The BR-S411U docks with any of JVC's broad range of professional CCD cameras to form a well-balanced, lightweight camcorder. The recorder's built-in interface adapter makes portable operation possible with any video camera as well. As an editing feeder, the BR-S411U combines with an editing recorder such as the BR-S811U using the RM-G410U simple editing control unit.

And by attaching JVC's SA-R100U compact time-code generator to the rear or bottom of the BR-S411U, time code can be added to the video signal, an invaluable feature that saves time and simplifies post- production tasks. The BR-S411U also includes many features not found on its predecessor, the BR-S410U, including high-speed search, XLR audio inputs and outputs, and rotary erase heads.

The recorder utilizes two FM-audio heads to record in Hi-Fi sound, with fidelity near that of a compact disc. Dynamic range is more than 80 dB and frequency response is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The normal audio track is also in stereo and features Dolby B noise reduction.

Balanced XLR audio connectors provide independent input and output connections along with adjustable level controls, and a pair of audio level meters. An automatic editing function for automatic backspace editing ensures that new recordings begin at the end of the last frame whenever recording is started from the pause mode.

Shuttle search at seven times normal speed and frame advance with the PAUSE/STILL button deliver a high level of search flexibility in the field. An LCD display can be switched from tape counter to a lap timer that shows elapsed time in hours, minutes, and seconds. The BR-S411U also provides VHS operation in the SP mode. HQ picture-improvement circuits are incorporated to ensure the best possible picture quality in VHS recording and playback.

The BR-S411U has many other features, including input switching between camera, line, and Y/C inputs; wired remote control; long- pause tape protection mechanism; and the rugged construction required for professional use.

The BR-S411U has a manufacturer's suggested list price of $3,429 and is now available from JVC dealers.
