JVC UPGRADES ITS POPULAR 3-CCD S-VHS CAMCORDER WITH ADVANCED TECHNICAL AND COMFORT FEATURES

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ, FEB. 1995 -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY introduced the GY-X2B (X2-B), an advanced version of the GY-X2U, a full-size 3-CCD integrated S-VHS camcorder. The X2-B camcorder features all new CCDs, better low-light performance and a new contoured shoulder pad. With three new CCD chips, the camcorder achieves higher resolution, sensitivity and image quality. The high performance camera achieves a sensitivity of F8.0 at 2,000 lux and a 62 dB signal-to-noise ratio with 750 lines of horizontal resolution. The new CCDs are designed with 380,000 active pixels with a microlens over each pixel for maximum sensitivity and minimum vertical smear. JVC's exclusive LoLux technology featured in the X2-B, now captures images in light as low as 1.5 lux. "While we achieved great success with the GY-X2, at JVC we constantly listen to feedback from our customers and dealers in an effort to tailor our products to the specific needs of its users," said Jerry Cohen, JVC product marketing manager. "In the X2-B we not only improved on the technical features of the GY-X2, we redesigned the shoulder pad to significantly increase comfort during a shoot." New Comfort

The new shoulder pad has a deeper curve, creating a natural, customized feel. By combining the X2-B's lightweight body with the all-new contoured shoulder rest, videographers will enjoy a superior level of shooting comfort. The X2-B is the perfect solution for event, wedding, educational, corporate and TV/cable videographers. Automatic Features

The X2-B is the only camera in its price range to feature Continuous Auto Black (CAB). The CAB circuit provides the highest level of black stability without the annoyance of an Auto Black switch. In addition, the Digitally-Controlled camcorder also features an improved quick-response mechanism with Full-Time Auto White and Automatic Level Control for continuous shooting in a wide range of lighting conditions. The X2-B is designed with a full-size head drum and can record up to two hours with ST-120 cassette. A Quick Start mechanism provides the user with immediate operation in 0.5 seconds. Pictures are recorded at better than 400 lines of resolution with 4 audio channels (2 Hi-Fi, 2 linear). XLR connectors can accommodate 2 external microphones. A plug-in time code option enables the user to record Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC) or Longitudinal Time Code (LTC) on the tape. This option offers SMPTE standard identification code for every frame of recorded video, which is often required for precise editing or off-line logging. Other features of the X2-B include: an industry standard bayonet 1/2" lens mount with 12-pin connector; an advanced auto white balance with 2 digital memories; and an Automatic Light Control (ALC) with an Extended Electronic Iris to maintain a constant video level in varying lighting conditions, without switching gain or inserting an ND filter. Also, an automatic lens iris circuit uses a multizone detection area to produce the most natural pictures. JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY distributes a complete line of broadcast and professional equipment including cameras, recorders, and editing products.
