September 17, 1987 JVC ANNOUNCES PORTABLE, DOCKABLE EDIT SOURCE S-VHS RECORDER/PLAYER Wayne, NJ...JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY has introduced the BR-S410U, a portable VCR that can be used in several applications. The BR-S410U can be used as a dockable VCR with any of the docking type JVC color cameras, a portable recorder/player and editing source. By using an optional remote control adaptor the BR-S410U can be a source VCR for the BR-S810U S-VHS editor.

The BR-S410U is ideal for use in professional and industrial applications that require the quality that is provided by a S-VHS portable. Not only is the video superior to any other VHS portable but both HI-FI and normal two track audio are standard.

A 14-pin camera connector allows the BR-S410U to receive luminance (Y) and chrominance (C) signals directly from a JVC color camera. The recorder achieves a video signal-to-noise ratio of better than 45 dB, and has a horizontal resolution of more than 400 lines. The BR-S410U incorporates Dolby C noise reduction on its two-channel audio track; the audio signal-to-noise ratio is 48 dB.

The BR-S410U incorporates an automatic function which creates short, clean back-space edits, eliminating the color beats normally created by overlapping signals during assemble edits. The recorder is protected by a rugged aluminum diecast outer shell. It is also built with various warning signals (self-diagnostics) that alert an operator to possible operating problems, so that valuable footage is not lost.
