TIME CODE READER GENERATOR/SERIAL INTERFACE

Atlanta, GA (NAB 1990)...JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY presents 
the SA-F911U, a SMPTE time code reader/generator as part of its 
PROFESSIONAL S line of production and post-production equipment. 

The SA-F911U allows 45-pin VTRs to interface with RS-422 serial 
devices such as animation controllers and computers. The SA-F911U 
uses a 9-pin subminiature D connector to connect JVC parallel VCRs 
to RS-422 serial controllers, including the JVC RM-G850U, Paltex 
Elite, Sony BVE-900, and Sony RM-450. The SA-F911U is also 
compatible with many VTRs. 

The SA-F911U reads both longitudinal time code from an audio or 
address track, and vertical interval time code (VITC) recorded on 
the video track. The unit's window generator allows time code to be 
superimposed over the video signal, making window dubs possible in 
off-line editing. 

Time code is inserted in the serial data stream for utilization by 
the editing controller. This feature permits accurate editing and 
random access to any location on the tape. The SA-F911U can also 
insert VITC into the Y/C 358 video signal, rather than only into 
the composite video signal, which provides the ability to perform 
Y/C dubbing. 

The SA-F911U is available immediately, and has a manufacturer's 
suggested list price of $1,360.
