JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY RELEASES SECOND GENERATION OF HIGH DEFINITION MEDICAL CAMERA

WAYNE, NJ (October15, 2002) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today announced the release of its new high definition micro camera, the DZ-VCA3U. The DZ-VCA3U is the world's smallest and lightest high-definition camera for medical endoscopic application.

The DZ-VCA3U is sterilizable and features multiple signal outputs for high resolution viewing and recording. With 750 horizontal, 750 vertical TV lines resolution, the DZ-VCA3U allows surgeons to view pathological detail not possible with conventional NTSC cameras, benefiting both the surgeon and the patient. The DZ-VCA3U is equipped with multiple output standards that support a wide variety of high-resolution displays and recording devices including 1080i HD signal format, progressive scan SXGA, DV, SVHS and composite video.

The only HD endoscopic video camera, the DZ-VCA3U produces 1125 scanning lines, twice that of standard TV/NTSC, and a 4:3 aspect ratio, providing high picture quality for better vision results. In addition, the DZ-VCA3U offers sharpness control to optimize endoscope performance, and has a 24mm fixed endoscope coupler and a 13-28mm parfocal zoom coupler available for endoscope attachment.

"JVC, as a creator of HD video products for the broadcast industry, had a forward vision, encouraged by a number of leading surgeons, to bring the same benefits of HD to the surgical market," said Steve Martin, assistant vice president, special markets, of JVC. "So in 1998, JVC collaborated with TTI Medical in San Ramon, CA, to develop a high definition video solution for microsurgery and endoscopic surgery."

JVC's DZ-VCA3U will appeal to surgeons for improving surgical efficacy and outcomes, since a very important component of endoscopic surgery is video vision during surgery. The DZ-VCA3U is ideal for applications such as laparoscopic, neuroscopic, cardiac, thoracic and general surgical procedures, to name a few.

The DZ-VCA3U also supports W-VHS (1125/60i), DVD, and VHS, and is engineered with a user-friendly standard C mount. The DZ-VCA3U will be available at the end of October.

JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY, headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey, distributes a complete line of presentation, broadcast and professional equipment.
