PROFESSIONAL DV RECORDERS

New BR-DV6000 Models offer SDI Output for High-End Editing and Broadcasting Systems, Ethernet/Internet Accessibility and Closed Captioning Functionality

WAYNE, NJ (February 25, 2004) - JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today announced the introduction of three new professional digital video (DV) recorder/players to its lineup, the BR-DV6000BU, BR-DV6000NET and the BR-DV3000B. The robust BR-DV6000BU provides SDI output and embedded audio through the optional SA-X65U plug-in card, making this DV recorder/player a natural fit in high-end editing and broadcast facilities. The new JVC BR-DV6000NET “Video Over IP” recorder provides Ethernet connectivity, which lets customers stream recordings to their local area network (LAN) or to the Internet without a computer. The BR-DV3000B player/recorder is JVC’s full-featured, low cost player/recorder; and with closed captioning functionality, is an ideal player/recorder for the government and educational markets.

The outstanding capabilities in JVC’s new DV recorder/players considerably strengthens and expands our lineup and our ability to satisfy market demand,” explained Edgar Shane, product manager for JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. “Key functionality such as SDI output in the BR-DV6000BU puts this player/recorder right at home in high-end facilities, while PC-less Ethernet and Internet streaming with the BR-DV6000NET gives corporations and scholastic institutions incredible flexibility.”

A High End Professional DV Recorder/Player with SDI Output: BR-DV6000BU

A significant contribution to JVC’s Professional DV (Pro DV) line of products, the BR-DV6000BU DV recorder/player features an optional SA-X65U card that provides SDI output with two-channel embedded audio and a separate AES/EBU output. This provides connectivity to a wide range of broadcast and professional editing systems that use uncompressed digital signals. JVC engineered its top of the line BR-DV6000BU to have the maximum level of compatibility with non-linear editing (NLE) systems through both IEEE-1394 and RS422 machine control. JVC has recently added compatibility for the latest editors from Avid and other manufacturers.

A new, advanced Digital Automatic Error Correction (DAEC) circuit allows the BR-DV6000BU to playback all kinds of DV and DVCAM tapes—even those that are out of spec due to worn heads or mis-aligned camcorders.

The BR-DV6000BU is compatible with full-size and mini DV tapes, features PAL/NTSC recording and playback, DVCAM playback ability and a wide range of unique options including option boards with XLR connectors for added flexibility. It features a front panel 2.5-inch LCD monitor that displays video, time code and various status indications. The BR-DV6000BU also offers closed caption compatibility.

Streaming Video to the LAN and Internet: BR-DV6000NET

The BR-DV6000NET “Video Over IP” recorder, based on the popular BR-DV6000B, includes the advanced capability to create MPEG-4 files and stream video to the LAN and/or over the Internet without the use of a PC. The BR-DV6000NET contains a built-in streaming server and control software so that the BR-DV6000NET can be started and controlled remotely via any Web browser with the resulting files downloaded to the client. This functionality makes the BR-DV6000NET an excellent solution for corporations and educational institutions looking to offer distance-learning opportunities.

Low-Cost, Full-Featured Player/Recorder: BR-DV3000BU

With full-feature functionality at a very reasonable cost, the BR-DV3000B replaces be JVC’s most popular recording deck, the BR-DV3000U. The extremely high quality, full and mini DV recorder/player offers digital connectivity to popular non-linear editing (NLE) software systems and is suitable for both NLE and studio-recording applications. The BR-DV3000B supports all sizes of DV and DVCAM tapes without an adapter and records and plays back both NTSC and PAL video standards. It too features JVC's advanced Digital Automatic Error Correction (DAEC) circuit allowing it to playback tapes from mis-aligned camcorders. Compact and stylish design allows the BR-DV3000B to be installed horizontally or vertically. To satisfy government regulations and the requirements of many educational systems, JVC has added closed caption tape compatibility to the BR-DV3000B.
