JVC ADDS DOCKING PORTABLE VCR TO ITS MII LINE

JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY has introduced the new KR-M260U videocassette recorder. It is designed to be directly coupled to an ENG/EFP camera such as the new JVC KY-R80U Plumbicon docking camera. The KR-M260U will also dock with any other existing component docking camera. It uses 20 minute MII videocassettes with picture quality so superb that tapes recorded in the field can be used right through editing and broadcasting without changing formats.

IDEAL FOR NEWS GATHERING AND OTHER ON-LOCATION APPLICATIONS

Through the MII format's use of Chroma Time Compressed Multiplexing (CTCM) and high density metal particle tape, picture quality of over 49dB and resolution of more than 430 lines playback gives performance that rivals 1 inch Type C format units. The system is ideal for news gathering and other on location applications. It has a variety of standard features which are a real advantage when recording in the field. These include:

* Three way power supply, either from external DC, a battery pack held within an inboard compartment, or the optional AC power adaptor. * Sealed cabinet to protect high precision mechanisms and direct drive motors against dust and moisture. * Die cast aluminum chasis that is light and sturdy. The entire weight of the KR-M260U is only (3.3kg) 7.3 lbs. * Warning indicators to ensure correct recordings. * A B/W playback circuit that works with the chroma confidence circuits so that recorded material can be reviewed through the viewfinder. * A speaker is provided for real time audio level monitoring.

ENHANCED OPERABILITY

A built in SMPTE Time Code Generator with an 8 digit LED display makes it quick and easy to locate any portion of the tape you need. The MII format includes a dedicated time code track for convenience in editing.

A rear panel terminal accepts time codes from an external generator for the synchronization of audio and video signals of multi camera productions. Accurate automatic backspace editing provides edit points that are virtually undetectable, a great convenience when working on location. Video confidence heads provide in-field recording assurance for the operator.

AUDIO TO MATCH THE SUPERB PICTURE QUALITY

The KR-M260U provides both longitudinal and FM Recording heads with longitudinal signal to noise ratio of 55dB, and FM dynamic range of better than 72dB.
