JVC INTRODUCES ONE-MONITOR, ONE-CABLE CAMERA
SOLUTION TO HI-RESOLUTION MICROSCOPY
New KY-F75U Rounds Out JVC’s Line-Up of Professional Microscopy Cameras

Wayne, NJ (May 2, 2003) - JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY today introduced the latest camera from its digital video systems division, the KY-F75U, a 1/2” 3-CCD digital capture camera. It joins the KY-F1030U and the KY-F70BU as a total solution to meet the vast—and growing—array of application for images captured in microscopes, including pathology and medical microscopy and materials analysis and other imaging applications.

Live SXGA Preview Creates One-Monitor Solution
The KY-F75U directly addresses the need for a less cumbersome solution to medical or materials analysis microscopy and similar imaging applications. It provides an innovative, live 7.5 fps, full-size (1360 x 1024) SXGA preview window—to allow for critical focus—right on the main PC monitor, thereby eliminating the need for an additional PC preview monitor. The camera displays images created by 4.3 million effective square pixels with progressive scanning and a razor-sharp, more than 1,000-line resolution.

New 6-Pin IEEE 1394 Connection and Card Offers True One-Cable Operation
The KY-F75U comes bundled with the KY-LINK image acquisition and control software, which, when used with the optional PFW-41U IEEE 1394 PCI card, enables the camera to be powered and controlled and the image to be calibrated, all from a single 6pin IEEE 1394 cable connection.

Removable IR Cut Filter Delivers Flexible Image Capture
In addition to a RGB prism separator and 3-CCD for total color accuracy, the KY-F75U comes equipped with an infra-red (IR) cut filter (easily detachable, if required) to accommodate IR lighting situations. The JVC-supplied special quartz filter, an option to be used in place of the IR cut filter, permits black-and-white photography in the IR region. It’s JVC's answer for applications requiring ultra-low illumination photography. This makes it ideal for ophthalmic use, especially for fundus camera solutions. The IR capabilities, combined with the 3-CCD, are very important for medical diagnostics, making it simple to use the KY-F75U to conduct retinal scans to accurately check the progression of a variety of retinal diseases, and capture images of tiny blood vessels within the eye.

Regardless of the application, the KY-F75U offers superb setting control for picture quality, including picture compensation, white spot compensation, gamma, and noise suppression. In addition, it provides a color matrix setting that allows the user to set critical color tone of camera images.

"The KY-F75U will have a terrific impact on the marketplace,” said Assistant Vice President, Special Markets Steve Martin, of JVC. “It’s a true one-monitor, one-cable solution that will be dramatically reduce the amount of imaging equipment necessary to deliver high-resolution images that are necessary in medical or materials analysis microscopy and the like.”
